Research Interests

To reduce the toxic effects of saline soils, plants have developed mechanisms to deal with salt stress by both excluding salt and coping with ions that have entered the plant, especially Na+. These mechanisms operate on both a systemic and intracellular level. Regarding the latter, I am investigating proteins functioning in Na+ compartmentalization into the vacuole. Furthermore, I am working on the development of a genetically encoded sodium sensor.
