Introduction

David graduated in Biotechnology and has a MSc. in Genetics and Biotechnology from Brigham Young University (U.S.A). He completed his PhD in plant sciences (Molecular and Cellular Biology minor) at University of Arizona (U.S.A). He is interested in identifying the causative genes and polymorphisms that underlie variation in root growth upon addition of salt. In collaboration with Brian Forde (Lancaster Univ, UK), David is using a chemical genomics approach to discover genes in Arabidopsis with salt-insensitive root growth.

Research Interests

I am interested in using diverse approaches in genetics, genomics, molecular biology, and evolutionary biology to understand how certain plant species have adapted to salinity, and in using breeding and biotechnology to enhance salt tolerance in crop species. I am particularly interested in applying genomic tools for the improvement of understudied crops such as Chenopodium quinoa.
